Gruhn Guitars Elvis' Everly Bros.

Elvis' Gibson Everly Brothers

This guitar was most recently owned by Elvis expert Jim Curtin, who was given the instrument by Vernon Presley, Elvis' father, in 1975 in appreciation for another guitar Curtin had made for Elvis. The story, as detailed in a letter from Curtin (that comes with the guitar), says that some time in late 1968, Elvis was at Graceland and wanted to play some music, but he didn't have a guitar at hand. He sent someone out to buy a new one, and this is that guitar. Elvis used it at Graceland through 1969.

The guitar (inv. #AG5074) is a 1968 Everly Brothers that has been refinished (it would have had a natural top finish and walnut-stained back and sides in 1968). The pickguard is a replica of the original style. With hard case, letters, certificate of authenticity and other documentation, this instrument was originally priced at $32,000 and is now offered at the reduced price of $25,000.
