Dan Fogelberg's White Penguin

Gretsch's White Penguin, the solidbody companion to the White Falcon hollowbody, is one of the rarest and most highly sought Gretsch models. This example, from late 1957, was owned and used extensively by singer/songwriter Dan Foglelberg, whose career has spanned 30 years and 20 albums, highlighted by such hits as "Longer" and "Same Old Lang Syne."

As Fogleberg explains in a signed note accompanying this instrument, he changed some of the equipment for better playability, including the Bigsby, tuners and bridge. It has its original stereo wiring with patent-applied-for Filter'Tron pickups and "thumbprint" fingerboard inlays. This instrument is in Very Good condition and is offered, two autographed photos of Fogelberg and with hard case, at $80,000
